It seems that YouTube is preparing for something big. Something like… video unit ads. It looks like a great idea in perspective.

“From the looks of things, publishers will be displaying videos from Google’s choosing – you will not be able to earn money showing your own videos in the player. YouTube is claiming the video content will be targeted to your site because you can choose the categories or have Google choose the video based on your site content.” says John Chow.

Here is ProBlogger commenting about it, and showing some pictures. I noticed some video ad formats on Google’s page. They may be “just” video ads, or they may be replaced (or complemented) in the future by the new YouTube ads. This is some older information. More here.
