Valentine Gift

30 January 2009

What’s the perfect gigt for a blogger? A Valentine WordPress theme.

Simple, red, 2.7 compatible, Clear Valentine is the perfect gift for any blogger. Try it now. It has full 2.7 support, wide screen compatible, long category names, styled avatar, CSS top menu and even a replaceable left artwork.

Clear Valentine is a simple theme, built in red and gray. It was officially published for Valentine’s Day, however, by changing the left artwork it can be suited for all types of blogs.

Download Clear Valentine 1.0 (WordPress 2.7 compatible) or check out more of my themes.

WordPress Theme – X4.1 Turbo

26 January 2009

X4.1 was the second theme of my blog and with the 2009 change, I decided to release it to the public. I did some changes, fixed some styles, changed the header image and here it is. It is fully compatible with WordPress 2.7 (no backward compatibility, upgrade already!). This version is dubbed X4.1 Turbo and it’s free to use and modify.

Also there are built-in styles for all web fonts. Just use Georgia font style and your text will be written with the Georgia font.

Links Of The Week

23 January 2009

It’s been a while since I surfed the web in search for interesting sites. This week though, I found two interesting ideas:

img_1149-tiltshift img_1140-tiltshift
img_1133-tiltshift img_1102-tiltshift

Tilt Shift photography effect at tiltshiftmaker.com. Tilt-shift miniature style photos are pictures of real-life scenes that are manipulated to look like model photographs.

The second one is Grooveshark. They say “Play any song in the world, for free!” Sounds a great idea. You can also register an account and save your favourite songs in a playlist.

1000 Web Links

22 January 2009

Last night I reached 1000 links with my first web link directory. It’s not much but it’s a great step for me. I’ve managed to gather only quality links, and regulalry, 15 web sites join the directory every day. I intend to upgrade it to more than a mere directory. It could be a business portal, with advanced search functions, advanced statistics reporting for sites, and advanced functionality in general.

It is not a niche directory, probably this is one of the reasons it succeeded in such a short time – 6 to 8 months – with little to no promotion and marketing. I’m trying my hand at a niche directory, restaurants, cafes, bar, taverns (hey, I don’t have “Taverns” category listed, I should go and add it), pizza houses, casinos and more. This one could use some local SEO, promotion and marketing. And this time I should do some thorough analysis of keywords. The first 100 links are hard to get, after that, it’s just a snowball rolling down the hill.

JavaScript TV Prompter

22 January 2009

* This script has been updated. See this post. *

This week’s tutorial is about jQuery, XHTML and TV prompters. In order to build such a script we, are going to use the jQuery library, and the old and deprecated marquee tag.

I will also use Remy Sharp’s jQuery plugin for marquee.
