The Joy Of Reading

3 February 2010

Haven’t read a book in a while, but I remember I have read lots of them when I was a child. And I enjoyed science fiction. Just like a regular boy. My favourite authors were Serge Brussolo (Broselot), N. Lee Wood, and others. I surely held some great books in my hands years ago.

That’s why I decided to buy one of my favourite books, Faraday’s Orphans.

When Berk Neilson, a helicopter pilot, becomes stranded on the Outside, he finds himself at the mercy of the burning sun and dangerous clans. What he doesn’t expect to encounter is a companion–a wild young girl who calls herself Saydonya–and the freedom he never realized he desired.

That’s a short description, brings back memories. I’m not sure when I’ll be able to read it as the online industry eats up all my time.

Other books I’ve purchased in the last 6 months are the Smashing Book, brought by Smashing Magazine, an excellent read on web accessibility, best practices and design. The other one is The Day of the Dragon, a WarCraft fiction book.

Serge Brussolo est un écrivain français de science-fiction, de fantastique, de thriller et de roman historique né le 31 mai 1951 à Paris.

Described as a gothique-romantique writer, Serge Brussolo wrote more than 200 short novels. My favourites are:

ClickBank Marketplace Products That Sell

8 October 2009

The following is a paid review. CBengine is a ClickBank marketplace search engine and product analysis software tool. ClickBank affiliates use CBengine to find ClickBank products that are selling well with low competition from other affiliates.

I’ve been using ClickBank a while ago, and I quit it because I found it a bit hard to navigate through all those offers and find low-paying products.

CBengine’s database contains millions of records about the products listed in the ClickBank marketplace. The fee is pretty modest, $39,95 a year. But you can stop after a year, if you don’t like it. A fellow blogger joined it and found a great, high-paying product from the first day. I’m still considering joining CBengine. They have graphs, history, advanced search, and everything else an affiliate marketer may wish for.

I could also mention that there is a 15 day trial to test it, and a lifetime membership option for $57,00. So, try before you buy. All offers are regularly updated, and they can be sorted by their value.

A quick search right from the start on their website, without having to be logged in or a member, shows the percentage of the gain, and other useful information.

I’ll keep you posted on my earnings with CBengine, which looks pretty cool and easy to use.

Top 10 Web Hosting Sites

4 March 2009

hosting

The following post is a paid review, however, I’ve been missing such a top. The Web Hosting Guide researches hundreds of web hosting sites and builds a top 10. With a powerful search engine and a specialized help center, one can find the perfect host for one’s needs.

Also, if you have a hosting company, you can add it to the database, an it will get reviewed, and soon it will appear in the search results. I’ve been browsing it for a while and found that my host dropped from the first place a year ago. I will have to check out the first 5 results to see if they’re worth it. I’m using dedicated reseller hosting, and my current host is the only one on the Web Hosting Guide, so I guess it’s the most reliable.

The resources section includes some great blogs and knowledge sites. There is a lot to learn about web hosting, and I’m sure more will be added in the future. I signed up on the newsletter to receive news and updates. It’s always beneficial to be updated when talking about hosting. In these crisis times, hosting should be at least reliable.

I’ve noticed some outdated links on their site but overall, I’m happy I ran into it. I found some info about adult hosting. I’ve got a lot of questions about this kind of legal adult hosting, and surely I will request more info from the listed hosts.

Clickbooth Network Blog

24 June 2008

With a fresh blog (actually 3 months, but not really updated since now), Clickbooth Blog tries to increase its covering on affiliate marketing. The blog is simple, and information wins over presentation. As a personal opinion, the logo seems fresh and one remembers it over time.

If you are not satisfied by the blog, head over to the Clickbooth Twitter page. With almost daily updates, you can find out what Clickbooth is up to these days.

I’ve never used Clickbooth, but I’m seriously considering using it as I heard (from some fellow bloggers using it), that they offer you the highest payouts in the industry, while working with the top CPA programs. One nice feature is the rotating ads they provide, as on a past blog I had, I used a custom rotator for affiliate ads to save space. Custom rotation is however not recommended as you can be banned from the respective affiliate network. Another feature I’m highly interested in is the publisher referrals, with a large percentage of the sale. Clickbooth works with its publishers to find the best payment plan for each of them. Publishers can apply for weekly payouts and select from several payment methods.

Apart from the contact options on the main site, the blog seems a good idea for getting in touch with readers, users, publishers and advertisers.

If you did not visit the blog, it is time to do it now, as you’ll have the chance to see what Clickbooth is doing, what events they are organizing and/or attending, and get in touch with a sales representative.

Free Blogs For Everyone

19 June 2008

Well, it seems there are many competitors for WordPress.com and Blogger.com worldwide. One of them is Thoughts.com. So if you want to have your own blogging space online, head to Thoughts.com and create your blog. The moment I saw the theme I trusted the site. It’s a clear theme resembling Yahoo and Excite a while ago. Not to Web 2.0-ish, Thoughts.com allows users to create a free blog or personal online journal. Upload photos, videos, podcasts, chat in the community forums and bookmark the latest news. Thoughts.com allows you to decide for each blog post if you want it to be public, private, or only viewable by your friends and family. Free unlimited bandwidth.

That’s a good point, as you can use the bandwidth to upload pictures, link to videos and write lots and lots of text. It is not based on any blog platform, so the chances of hacking into your account are small. Another thing I like is that the content is filtered. Posts and articles not safe for children’s eyes are labeled “Explicit Content”.

One thing I don’t totally agree is the URL address a user gets after registering: thoughts.com/username. I would prefer username.thoughts.com. Sounds like a sentence, right?

Nevertheless, Thoughts.com is still in Beta, and lots of changes and features are to be done and fixed until the final release.

The community forum helps you find your way into Thoughts.com, or troubleshoot issues.

Another thing I liked was the ability to upload photos, videos or create a podcast. Really sweet. Are you convinced? Go make a blog and publish your thoughts.
